Attack on TitananimeIt starts as monsters-outside-the-wall and slowly turns into a story about what people do once they find out who's actually on the other side. The last two seasons stop letting you have a side.

A Silent Voicemangaabout guilt, and it doesn't let anyone off easily including the reader. one of the few that earns its ending

Ten episodes, no filler, and it tells you how it ends in the first one. Trigger animating a story where getting stronger is the thing that kills you.

Demon SlayeranimeThe simplest story on this list and the best-looking. Tanjiro wants his sister back, that's it; everything else is Ufotable spending an obscene budget on ten-second fight sequences you'll rewatch.
recommended by @brainstitch

It opens after the hero party wins, and follows the elf who outlives all of them. A show about noticing people mattered only once they're gone, told at walking pace.

Jujutsu Kaisenmangamost shonen treats its strongest character as a ceiling to reach. jjk treats him as a load-bearing wall, then asks what happens to a building designed around one. you can dislike where it ends up and still admit nothing else is asking that.

Lightning Degreemanhwatighter and meaner. gets to the point about thirty chapters faster if you bounced off nano machine's opening

Look Backmangaone volume, takes an hour, sits with you for a lot longer. fujimoto without the chainsaws

Nano Machinemanhwasolo leveling's power curve grafted onto a murim court drama. the fights are great but it's the petty sect politics that keep you up until 4am

i went in expecting a system-apocalypse manhwa and got something closer to an argument about what you owe a story you've read too many times. the panels know when to be quiet, which almost nothing in this genre does.

One Piecemangaa thousand-plus chapters and the payoffs still land, because Oda planted them two decades ago and remembered. The only long series where going back rewards you more than going forward.

the funniest manhwa running. everyone posts the fight panels and skips that chung myung is a menace to every adult in the story

Solo Levelingmanhwai watched the anime first and assumed the manhwa would be the same thing slower. it's the opposite. the anime smooths the fights into something watchable; the manhwa lets them be ugly and one-sided, which is the point of a story about a man who stopped being outmatched.

OP-MC power fantasy where the reincarnation arc actually earns its payoffs. the art glow-up around ch.100 is unreal

Vagabondmangasame question about what a violent man does when he runs out of reasons to be violent, and the art is some of the best ever put on a page
